Got Advice?
I would strongly recommend to anyone who is writing a scientific research paper to try different techniques such as freeweiting to get them started. Writing down different ideas about your topic and then writing down what you've heard or already know will help when doing additional research. Also, after writing your first draft I would recommend using the post-draft outline. This outline will help you re-structure or add different ideas to your paper to help prove your agrument.

Just Write!
At this point my perspective of writing has changed compared to when I first started this course. When I first heard about our final paper needing to be 6-8 pages I was immediately overwhelmed. However over the past several weeks, this course has shown me that writing can be easy if the proper techniques are used. I found that freewriting about what I already know on the topic is a great way to start a paper and informal outlining can help me detemine how my paper needs to be structured. Overall I can say I am relieved at how well I think I did in this class. Writing is not on my list of fears any longer… :)

End of Posting?
I'm not sure if I will continue posting to my blog after this course. I personally do not know many people who would consider following my blog or would be interested in reading it. However, I do see where a blog would come in useful. Such as staying in tough with family/friends, keeping clients/customers informed...I have a friend who owns an art gallery that uses a blog to keep her clients informed on her activities and classes that are going on. It really seems to work for her.

Shocking Research?!?!?
I can't say that I found any shocking information during the process of researching on Childhood Obesity. This is a common and serious problem in today's culture. I did, however, realize how much television affects your diet. For example, in my paper I wrote about Trix cereal and how General Mills uses a Rabbit to catch kids' attention and making them want the sugary cereal. I also realized how much schools play a role in childhood obesity by offering vending machines in several locations. High-calorie and sugary foods are way too accessible for children today.

These past 6 weeks...
These past 6 weeks have been overwhelming for me. Not only have I been anxious about writing this weeks project, my mother in-law has been in an assisted living facility for a few months and is coming home tomorrow, which is going to take time away from work and school. I will be glad when this week is over… :) Other than that, I am very impressed at how much I am learning about writing in this class. When we started week 1, I was so nervous…I have not always been the greatest writer. Writing my paper is making me realize how much I know.

Pressures of school...
School is having a great influence on my life at this point. Even though it is overwhelming at times because I also work a full-time job, my hard work in maintaining a 3.8 grade point average is giving me the inspiration to keep on pursuing my career in Health Information Management. In the end I know the work in obtaining a degree in HIM will pay off.

Giving credit where credit is due...
Anything that we need to “borrow” from another source needs to be cited. This is so that the person who thought of the idea and/or completed the work also gets credit for it. It also shows the audience reading the information that you did the necessary research to become knowledgeable on your topic.
